I decided to throw this HD(720p) file into my new iPhone 3GS via app called 'Air Sharing'(one that gizmodo recommended!). And I tapped on it thinking it won't play... surprisingly it played extremely well.(unlike the uncompressed HD(straight from Lumix) file I tested initially.
Few things to note:
*As I don't have any prev gen Apple iPhone or iPod Touch, I was not able to confirm if this is confined to the latest Cortex processor but I am pretty sure you can check that out later.
*also as I do not own composite out cable from Apple, I was not able to verify if the output can also be done in 720p somehow. However, having heard that Apple changed the 30 pin slot design may be this is related to supporting 720p via 30pin
* This file could not be transferred conventional way(i.e. via iTunes). However the video playback seemed to be done by built in quicktime api(or whatever Apple calls it)
*Full HD(1920x1080i); I did not have opportuity to test it
