iriver fomer CEO to follow same fate as Steve Jobs? 아이리버 양덕준 사장 스티브 잡스와 같은 팔자?

한국 전자기기 시장에 디자인 다운 디자인을 시작한 아이리버 레인콤의 양덕준 사장이 아이리버를 떠난다고 합니다. 실제로 기사는 몇일 된 기사인데 문득 재미있는 생각이 들어서 몇자 써볼까 합니다.

아시다시피 Apple의 Steve Jobs도 1986년 NeXT라는 차세대 기술집약적 컴퓨터를 생산하기 위해 애플을 떠납니다. 물론 이 회사는 Apple만큼이나 성공하지는 못하고 애플에 의해 다시 인수되고 마는데 이게 1996년의 일입니다. 그 다음에 인수조건으로서 Steve Jobs가 Apple에 복귀하게 되고 지금의 제 2전성기를 구가 하게 됩니다.

양덕준 사장도 레인콤을 시작한지 어언 10년이라고 하는군요. Steve Jobs도 76년 즈음에 시작하여 86년에 떠났고, 한 다시 10년즈음 있다 돌아왔으니, 양덕준 사장님도 돌아오시지 않을까 하는 생각을 해봅니다. 물론 10년뒤에는 나이가 좀 많을지 몰라도 아이리버 디자인 마인드의 '후광' 최문규 사장님이라도 돌아오게 된다면 Apple식의 부활도 가능할듯 합니다.[이점은 특히 10퍼센트 가량의 지분을 유지하신다는 점에서 상당히 가능해 보이는 시나리오 입니다. 새로 만드시는 회사도 아이리버랑 충돌하지 않는 컨설팅 회사이다 보니] 하지만 당분간 양덕준 사장님과 최문규 부사장이 없는 아이리버는 90년대초 Apple에 비할만한 불황이 올지도 모르겠군요.

아이리버 라인업을 간결하게 해서 전세계로 나갔으면 괘찮었을듯 한데 너무 복잡하게 되버린듯 해서 또 이렇게 까지 되서 참 아쉽군요. 다른한편으로는 주주들은 다음 10년간 주식을 가지고 있을 수만 있다면 상당한 대박을 칠지도 모르겠네요.

Person who brought the 'true' design to Korean electronics market, iriver's Duk Jun Yang has officially left his beloved company reigncom(that is iriver). The article itself is few days old but I had some interesting thoughts about this.

As many of you know, Steve Jobs left Apple in 1986 that is about 10 years after the beginning of Apple and created new company called NeXT which was meant to be the computing of the future. However, it was not as successful as Apple and eventually his company is bought up by Apple under the condition that he returns as CEO of Apple. This was in 1996 and from then on he eventually puts Apple back on track.

Apparently this year is 10th year since Yang left this company. And he is holding onto his shares(he is the second largest share holder of the company) and his new company is not going to compete with iriver since it is a design consulting company more than anything else. Of course he may be too old to return to company in 10 years time when(if it follows the same route as Apple) iriver will be crippled. Still the design master mind Muk Kyu Choi can easily return with his design aura. However there is chance this company will may be bought up by Samsung or LG.

Some interesting and wild thoughts but for now iriver should really simplify their line up.
