-Normal Patient pays up to 35.40 per medication (unless brand premium exists in which case this lifts thhe ceiling by amount of brand premium/therapeutic good premium)

-Concenssional patient pays yr to 5.80 per medication.

-These prices are called patient contribution. These amounts are recorded against Medicare Safety Net. Note there may be some additional charges such as mark up imposed by pharmacy, dispensing fee etc. All these may be recorded against safety Net EXCEPT Allowable Extra

-Therapeutic Goods Premium = Brands Premium (kind of)

-Once 'Safety Net' amount recorded exceeded a) normal patients pay max 5.80 per medication. b)concessional patients pay nothing.

-All threshold and prices are adjusted yearly and becomes effective 1st of January of every calendar year.
