British Airways details alternative fuel study plan

British Airways hopes to complete its alternative fuel study by early next year and has pledged to make the results public in a bid to speed up the industry's knowledge about sustainable jet fuel substitutes. BA has teamed up with Rolls-Royce to launch a scientific test programme investigating the viability of alternatives. It appears that BA is hopping on the biofuel band wagon. It is going to begin the process of choosing the supply for the biofuel first by requesting sample to be tested on Boeing 747-400(RB211). The reason why B747-400 is used for this purpose due to the number engines but also the fact that Air New Zealand has already carried out the same test on this type(same engine, too).
