아이폰 3G 중국어? Chinese Handwriting Recognition on iPhone 3g?

일전에 China Telecomm이 애플의 아이폰 수익분배모델이 맘에들지 않는다고

한적이 있었지만, 아이폰 2.0 베타 펌웨어에 중국어 기능이 탑재되었다고 합니다.

애플은 뉴톤 개발당시 공개 망신을 당한 외주제작의 필기인식 대신

로제타라는 자사 개발의 필기인식 소프트웨어를 개발한바 있습니다.

(이 Rosetta는 인텔 프로세서와 그 이전의 프로그램과의 호환성을

보장해주는 Rosetta와는 다른 로제타임) 현재 이 기술은

애플의 잉크웰이라는 이름으로 Mac OS X에 탑재되어 있습니다.

이 업데이트는 시기적으로 iPhone의 미국외 개발자의 접수를

받기 시작한지 얼마되어 나오지 않은점을 미루어. 다음 버젼에서의

iPhone이 국제적 호환성에 신경쓰겠다는 모습을 충실히 보여주고 있습니다.

현재 iPhone Beta 2.0의 경우 본래 지원되었던 언어외에 한국어를 포함한

일부 언어의 추가적 입력 옵션을 지원하고 있습니다.

There has been a report that China Telecomm did not like the business

model Apple had with its flagship mobile phone iPhone. But introduction

of handwriting recognition in its iPhone 2.0 Beta release seems to say

opposite. Only Chinese hand writing recognition at this stage.

It is noteworthy that Apple had plenty of experience with handwriting

recognition throughout development for 'Rosetta'(Not to be

confused with 'Rosetta' for Intel Processors) for Newton

Personal Digital Assistant. However it was never really implemented

for other language. Even Mac OS X version of 'Rosetta' called 'Inkwell'

do not support recognition of non-alphabetical language.

This release nearly coincides with the Apple beginning to accept the foreign developers

for its own iPhone platform. iPhone beta 2.0 firmware already support handful more

of other language input options including Korean.
